In order to encourage and support the international education of Jiangxi Province and attract more foreign students to study here, Jiangxi Provincial Government has established a scholarship program for international students and scholars who pursue their studies and research in institutions of higher learning in Jiangxi Province.

1. Categories of Applicants and Duration of Scholarship

Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship Program for International Students targets foreign students who have officially registered and studied for more than one year in Jiangxi’s institutions of higher learning eligible to recruit international students and visiting scholars who have been in Jiangxi for more than one year.

2. Application Procedures and Timing

All applicants should fill in the Application Form for Jiangxi Government Scholarship for International Students printed by Jiangxi Provincial Education Department truly, correctly and completely in accordance with the time and requirements set by their institutions and submit their applications within the time limit required.

3. Eligibility

1) The applicant should be a foreign student who has officially registered and studied for more than one year in Jiangxi’s institutions of higher learning eligible to recruit international students, or a visiting scholar who has been in Jiangxi for more than one year.

2) The applicant should have excellent academic performance, with no record for failing to pass the examinations.

3) The applicant should be a person in good character and conform to regulations and laws of his/her institution and China.

4) The applicant should not be a recipient of a Chinese Government Scholarship.

4. Scholarship Rates

The candidates for this scholarship are assessed annually and the rates are RMB1,000. The Education Department of Jiangxi Province will allocate the places of this scholarship to institutions of higher learning that enroll international students in Jiangxi Province. All candidates are selected and reported by those institutions and then Jiangxi Provincial Education Department approves the name list and awards the winners.

6. Selection of Institutions and Specialties

Applicants may choose institutions and specialties from the Chinese institutions of higher education in Jiangxi province. Please check the details or submit the application forms to the institutions directly.

7. Approval and Notification

The "Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship Vetting Committee”, composed of leaders and teachers who are familiar with foreign students’ education and work seriously, is in charge of the publicity of the program and assessment of its applicants. The name list of all members should be reported to Jiangxi Provincial Education Department for record.

On the basis of their regulations concerning teaching and student management, the institutions of higher learning concerned draft the specific evaluation measures and criteria, by which the scholarship status of all applicants are assessed.

The assessment procedures are as follows:

1) Taking the places allocated and evaluation requirements & criteria into consideration, all related institutions of higher learning determine the candidates for this scholarship and fill in the Application Form for Jiangxi Government Scholarship for International Students with comments and suggestions. The assessment report, name list of scholarship candidates and Application Form should be delivered to Jiangxi Provincial Education Department before May 31st each year.

2) After approval, Jiangxi Provincial Education Department will inform institutions concerned of the final results which then should be made public. The awarding ceremonies should be held each year and the specific time and place are determined by institutions. Relevant Institutions can designate corresponding assessment methods in line with their actual conditions.

3) The application materials will be reserved by Jiangxi Provincial Education Department and the award-winning materials will be reserved by relevant Institutions.
