ZJU won three first prizes at National College Students Arts Festival

“I wake up at the dawn of Spring…” with the sound of pure Peking Opera accent, the singing of the waking insects among flower blooms started to linger over the concert hall. The member of Zhejiang University Wenqin Arts Troupe choired in melodious harmony which created an early morning dream in ancient houses in traditional Chinese cultural mood. Judges and audience were deeply impressed. This performance “Spring Dream” earned the first prize for Zhejiang University in the vocal competition.

On the evening of February 7, the third National College Students Arts Festival kicked off in Hangzhou with the participation of about 7000 students and teachers from 403 universities and colleges. Zhejiang University students took home three first prizes with their excellent performances. In addition to the first prize winning “Spring Dream” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade” by Wenqin choir, Wenqin folk orchestra and Wenqin Symphony both won the first prize in instrumental music competition with “Celebration of Seasons” and “Dvorak Symphony No. 9, the Fourth Movement”.

National College Students Arts Festival is held every three years and is currently the most influential college students arts event. This year, 172 performances participated in competitions of 4 difference categories.
